Happy Birthday Dr Banting and safe travels to everyone on the Diabetes Highway today

So it would be amiss of me not to write something today, World Diabetes Day.

I could write about how chuffed I am to have had a full year now of Nightscout on the 640g. I could write again about the emotional connection that's still super-strong between Janki and her pump... I could write about the inspirational educators and leaders I've met across T1D over the last couple of years (including Dr Patel doing his bit on the lunchtime Diabetes Awareness stand at work today :) )

And, of course, I could write about how thankful I am that we live in a country and an era where, thanks to Dr Banting's pioneering work on using insulin in humans, we have the basic tools to keep Janki going. Almost 100 years later not everyone in this crazy world of ours has access to insulin.

But, actually, Mrs Little D has already said pretty much what I wanted to say today (and said it far better than I ever could). She's summed up the emotional and physical energy that's invested by the whole family unit everyday in keeping this T1 car* on the road.....

So Happy Birthday Dr Banting and safe travels to everyone on the Diabetes Highway today.

*little homage to Mark Wilson there ;)
